  • 22.5ml elderflower liqueur
  • 5 - 8 mint leaves
  • 120ml prosecco
  • 60ml club soda

Instructions

  1. Clap mint leaves to release the essential oils and add to a wine glass with ice.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients, and stir gently.

  3. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lemon wheel.

Hints

  1. One popular variation of the Hugo uses white wine instead of Prosecco.

  2. If you find this cocktail a bit on the sweeter side, consider adding a small amount of lime or lemon juice.

  3. If you’d like to increase the ABV on this cocktail, consider adding an ounce of gin.

  1. The Hugo or Hugo Spritz was created in 2005 by Roland Gruber in Naturno, Italy.

  2. Originally, the recipe used lemon balm syrup, which he then switched to elderflower syrup. It was often served with a squeeze of lime juice to cut through the sweetness.
