Gin Basil Smash

Ingredients

  • 0.5 lemon
  • 8 - 12 basil leaves
  • 60ml gin
  • 22.5ml simple syrup

Instructions

  1. Add the basil leaves and lemon to a cocktail shaker.

  2. Muddle firmly.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients.

  4. Add ice and shake until chilled.

  5. Double strain into a rocks glass with ice.

  6. Garnish with a basil sprig.

Hints

  2. Meyer eventually settled on using Rutte Celery Gin for this recipe, but mentions it will work with other types of gin as well.

  3. Since all lemons are different, make sure to taste the cocktail before serving it. Add syrup or lemon juice to adjust.

  4. You can alternatively use 1oz / 30ml of lemon juice if you want to control the acidity of the cocktail.
