  • 30ml mezcal(suggested: Del Maguey Vida)
  • 22.5ml Aperol
  • 15ml Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • 22.5ml lime juice

Grapefruit twist

Instructions

  1. Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

  2. Shake until chilled.

  3. Strain into a coupe.

  4. Twist a grapefruit peel over the drink to express the essential oils and garnish with the twist.

Hints

  1. Grapefruit and Mezcal go really well together: You can optionally add a few drops of grapefruit bitters.

  1. Created in 2009 by Phil Ward in his New York Bar Mayahuel. It’s a variation of the Last Word.

  2. The name comes from Pink Floyd’s album of the same name, which Ward listened to while constructing the bar. 

  3. Phil Ward was amongst the first bartenders to popularize mezcal in the United States.
