Tequila-Sherry Eggnog

Tequila-Sherry Eggnog

Ingredients

  • 2 whole eggs
  • 75g sugar
  • 120ml heavy cream
  • 180ml whole milk
  • 75ml Amontillado sherry
  • 60ml tequila añejo
No. of Servings:
1

Garnish

Freshly grated nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Add eggs into a blender on low speed until smooth.

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients slowly with the blender still on low speed.

  3. Serve chilled or hot (see Hints), garnished with freshly grated nutmeg.

Yields around 600ml of eggnog.

Hints

  1. We've tried this recipe replacing the tequila with brandy or pisco. The tequila and brandy variants were our favorites, pisco didn't work too well.

  2. If you want to expand on the flavors of the recipe, consider adding half a teaspoon of cinnamon or your favorite holiday spice blend (i.e.: pumpkin spice).

  3. Morgenthaler's original recipe calls for serving this chilled, but we tried heating it up and were very pleased with the results. Definitely a viable alternative.

Trivia

  1. Created by Jeffrey Morgenthaler in 2009 for Clyde Common in Portland, Oregon, USA.

  2. Per Morgenthaler, the idea behind this recipe came from wanting to surprise the Portland crowd with an innovative and unusual version of the traditional Eggnog recipe.
