Hints

  1. The original Bramble is made with crème de mûre, but if you can’t find it and are looking for alternatives, try it with Chambord, crème de cassis, or crème de framboise. All of these taste different, but will yield a cocktail in a similar style.

  2. Alternatively, for a similar but different drink, try using raspberry, blackberry or black currant syrup.

  3. Otherwise, Leandro from Educated Barfly has a video for homemade crème de mûre.

Trivia

  1. Created in the 1980’s by Dick Bradsell in Fred’s Club in London. Bradsell is also the creator of another modern classic: The Espresso Martini.

  2. Per Bradsell, the Bramble is a variation on the Singapore Sling and was inspired by his time picking blackberries as a child in the Isle of Wight. He set out to make a great British drink with British ingredients, but, as he jokingly remarks, he failed because “the lemons came from Spain”.

  3. The word bramble refers to the vine or shrub from which blackberries grow.
