Bitter Mai Tai

Ingredients

  • 22.5ml overproof jamaican rum(suggested: Smith & Cross)
  • 45ml Campari
  • 15ml Curaçao
  • 30ml lime juice
  • 22.5ml orgeat

Mint sprig

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. Shake until chilled.

  3. Strain over crushed ice into a rocks glass.

  4. Top with more crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig.

Hints

  1. If you don’t have dry curaçao, you can use Triple Sec or Grand Marnier instead.

  2. Smith & Cross is recommended for this drink because it will stand against the other strong flavors. You can use other Jamaican rums here, though, ideally high proof, if you have one on hand.

  3. Don’t skimp on the mint! Not only will you provide a better presentation but the aroma will enhance the drink. Make sure you firmly clap it to release its essential oils.
